Charles Smotherman

Charles Smotherman is the interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Teradata. A member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team, he is responsible for leading the Corporate Finance function, including the Accounting Office, Tax and Treasury, Investor Relations and Corporate Development, as well as Enterprise Risk and Assurance.

Charles has a proven track record and deep acumen in leading large-scale financial disciplines, driving strategic financial planning, and proactive risk management. He has extensive senior leadership experience in corporate finance and accounting at Teradata, serving as the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) since 2019. Previously, Charles was corporate controller at Teradata, after joining the company in 2009. In this role, he held responsibility for financial controls and compliance, external reporting, global accounting, sales compensation, acquisition integration, and the company’s ERP application.

Prior to Teradata, Charles served as the Vice President and Corporate Controller at a leading financial e-commerce company. In this role, he oversaw all accounting and billing functions, managing a team of over 50 professionals.

Charles has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Auburn University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is based in the Atlanta area.
